Getting a new entertainment space in Reading
I needed a bespoke home bar after hosting a party where we lacked space. I chose to look near the Oracle Shopping Centre.
I stumbled upon the website while scrolling and sent photos. Central Bedroom and Kitchens responded with a price that seemed fair for the work.
The journey of organising this project was honestly quite detailed. I dedicated several hours thinking on the layout of the space before even picking up the phone. My living area has always felt slightly incomplete, and owning a dedicated zone for drinks seemed like the perfect solution to that issue. I recall sitting in my kitchen staring at a messy surface filled with bottles and feeling that everything had to change. The first interaction with the team was very simple, which provided me assurance. We discussed various aesthetics, from modern minimalist looks to more classic and timber textures. I was quite impressed by how many detail they wanted regarding the dimensions and the current interior of my house. It felt like they truly desired the finished product to match seamlessly with the balance of the property. I offered various views in the images I uploaded, ensuring sure every corner was clear. They explained that the bespoke type of the furniture meant that accuracy was absolutely paramount to avoid any issues during the fitting. We moved forth and back on possible materials, searching at samples of laminate and various kinds of wood patterns. It is surprising how many thought goes into selecting the correct hardware, like knobs and fittings, which could totally change the feel of the entire build. I needed a space where I might comfortably mix cocktails for guests without needing to constantly run back to the pantry for ice or glasses. The ease of having everything in one place was the primary reason for this investment. We settled the blueprint following a short consultation where every one of my concerns about wiring and electric points were answered. I appreciated that they didn't hurry the planning stage, taking the effort to make sure that the depth of the shelving was sufficient for my tallest glassware. It felt like a joint process rather than a standard sale, which is rare to find these days.
The fitting day came faster than anticipated, and the technician was on time and ready. He started by laying down safety covers to ensure my carpet remained clean. Watching the components being unpacked was fascinating, as the standard of the wood was immediately evident. He carefully verified the levels of the walls before securing the main frame of the unit. I observed as the skeleton gradually took shape, changing a plain alcove into a functional feature. The degree of skill involved in fitting the boards to the wonky walls of my older home was notable. He mentioned how each piece slotted together to provide total strength. We spent a little duration deciding on the final height for the integrated cooler, making sure it was accessible to reach but hidden back from main sight. The fitting of the counter was the highly satisfying moment of the whole day. Seeing the smooth surface finally sitting on the cabinets made the vision come to life. He next installed the glass backsplash, which instantly caused the room to look twice the size. The LEDs were wired afterward, and testing them for the first time was a thrill. The soft glow below the racks showcased the bottles beautifully. I could see exactly how handy this would be during evening events. The worker was highly careful, taking the time to wipe down each area and clear any dust made during the cutting. He also demonstrated me the way to move the racks should I ever wanted to house larger pieces. The attention to detail was really great, right down to the sealant beads along the edges. It was obvious that he had great pride in his craft, which is always reassuring to see. We did a final walkthrough of the completed installation to ensure all was perfect. I noted that one handle was a bit loose, and he fixed it straight away with a quick turn of a screwdriver. This thoroughness is just what I was looking for when I arranged the service.
The finished area appears completely amazing and has become the main feature of my downstairs. It provides a sophisticated feel that had been formerly lacking from my reception room. The capacity is huge, enabling me to organise all my spirits, mixers, and fancy glasses in a unified place. No more do I have to search through cluttered cupboard cabinets to find a corkscrew or a certain kind of glass. Everything has its proper home, which renders entertaining much more easier and relaxing. I love the way the materials reflect the sunlight in the afternoons, creating a inviting ambience. My friends have already praised the design several occasions, with some actually inquiring for the contact of the company who made it. It truly feels like a bespoke extra tailored specifically for my needs. The elevation of the countertop is perfect for leaning around with a glass, and the built-in LED units provide just the correct amount of illumination without being too bright. Even when not in operation, it serves as a beautiful piece of furniture that lifts the entire look of the house. I used some time placing my bottles on the racks to make a pleasing display. The glass back really help in displaying the bottles and giving dimension to the small alcove. It has inspired me to experiment creating new drinks that I before felt were too fussy to attempt in a normal kitchen. Having the sink nearby would have been nice, but the space constraints meant we opted against it to preserve cabinet space. This was a deliberate decision we took during the planning stage, and I certainly not rue it. The additional cupboard room for straws and tools is far more valuable to me in the run period.
There were a couple of minor drawbacks that are worth mentioning for a balanced perspective. The lead time for the bespoke panels was a bit longer than I initially wanted. It lasted about eight weeks from the first payment to the actual fitting date. While this is understandable for high-quality work, it required a bit of waiting on my end. I had hoped to have it ready for a specific birthday, but we passed that deadline by a few days. However, the updates from the team regarding the delay was consistent, so I was never left in the dark. I would hold a bit more for a product that is made to endure than receive a hasty job that breaks after a few months. The initial price quote was also a little less than the final invoice, mainly because I decided to improve the hardware and add extra internal lighting midway during the process. These adjustments were completely my choice, and the team was very transparent about the additional costs involved. Another minor issue was the volume of boxes remaining following the fitting. Although the technician cleaned up the build site perfectly, there was a large pile of cardboard to get rid of in my recycling. fitted bar It was not a big deal, but a thing to keep in mind if you possess little waste space. Despite these minor details, the overall experience was very good. The standard of the fit is much superior to anything I could have purchased off-the-shelf. It seems solid and well-constructed, and I am confident it will withstand years of use. I believe the value it has given to my property well outweighs the initial outlay. It has transformed the way I use my downstairs space, rendering it much more social. I not anymore sense cramped when friends visit.
Reflecting back on the whole experience, I am really glad I opted forward with it. The initial idea came from a visit to a friend's house in London, where they had a comparable bar. I realised then how much it improved the movement of the party. When I got back to Reading, I started looking for local firms and discovered that going with a specialist provider was the only route to achieve the exact look I wanted. The ability to pick each element, from the shade of the stain to the position of the power sockets, made the final result was just as I pictured. I even got a tiny secret drawer included for storing valuable tools like fancy stirrers. This level of personalisation is what makes the service unique. It did not feel like a mass-produced item being forced into a room where it did not fit. Instead, it feels like it has always been a part of the house. If you are thinking about a similar domestic upgrade, my advice would be to remain calm and spend the effort on the design part. It is much easier to change a sketch than it is to modify a cabinet once it is built. The expertise provided during the start was invaluable in preventing me from making simple mistakes, such as putting the cooler too close to a radiator. These small bits of advice are what you buy for when you choose experienced professionals. I am currently planning at different parts of my home to see where else I could add built-in solutions. The outcome of this fitted job has given me the drive to tackle a bigger renovation in the bedroom next year. It is a wonderful addition to my life, and I look forward to many seasons of using it with family and friends. Finding the right mix between style and function was the goal, and I think we reached it perfectly. The process from a cluttered alcove to a stylish hosting hub was well deserving the effort and money required. I now have a home that I am really happy to show with to others. Reading has some great venues to visit for a cocktail, but honestly, I now favour staying at home and using my own personal bar. It provides the identical feel without the crowds or the commute. That itself is worth the entire project. I am so pleased with how the lighting works in the night, creating a relaxing space to relax after a busy day at work. It is the little luxuries like this that make house life so pleasant and enjoyable. I really appreciate the workmanship that was put into the finished result. The way the doors close with a silent click tells volumes about the construction quality. No detail was ignored, and the final look is exactly what I needed it would be when I first began this process. It is a testament to the skill of the fitters and the standard of the materials used. I am a very happy customer.
